Burke's Backyard Roadtest
Whilst other clubs and breeders may shy away from talking on camera to 'the gardener', the DCQ Inc saw an invite to participate in the road test of the Dobermann, as a fantastic opportunity to promote our beloved Dobe to a huge and captive audience.
Our Club President, Ann-Marie, had many long and lengthy discussions with the researchers from Burke's Backyard who contacted the club regarding information they had gathered on the breed from many varied sources. After a quick whip around, a date, time, venue and guinea pigs (oops, participants) were organised for the filming. A big thankyou to Ann-Marie, Rhonda, Les, Reg, John, Shan and Sue for supplying a venue, dogs and equipment at such short notice.
Judging from the feedback the club has received, both officially and through individual club members, the segment was viewed positively by the wider Dobermann fraternity. Of course there are those who found fault with one thing or another, but there will always be the detractors.
The DCQ Inc has also received many inquiries from prospective puppy purchasers who are wishing to buy their next Dobermann from a breeder who is concerned about their dog's long-term health. Don Burke gave the DCQ Inc a huge wrap and was highly impressed with the effort the club's committee and members are investing in the future health and well being of the Dobermann.
Just a few weeks after the Burke's Backyard filming, Ann-Marie, Les, Rhonda, Tanya and Shan fronted up again for yet another dose of television filming with the crew from Totally Wild visiting to film our Dobes. This segment will go to air on Wednesday the 30th of May, 2001. Totally Wild can be seen nationally on th TEN Network from 4pm.
